About the Program
The Wizkid's Afterschool Program is an exciting, family run, k to 6 after school club that is expertly designed to cultivate creative potential, developmental growth, self worth, and an appreciation for human innovation and values such as fairness, friendship and family. The success of our program stems from the 4 strands of our Creative Kids Pedagogical Approach; the Hands-on S.T.R.E.A.M. Curriculum, our Family Friendly Atmosphere, the Fine Arts Program, and the Physical Literacy component. Together with that "little something extra" that only we provide, your child(ren)’s time at Wizkid’s will be their next "big" adventure!
Our program has the widest range of options to choose from; within the JBS Canada Centre we have access to the library, curling, skating, swimming and the largest indoor play spaces. Our location also affords us access to most community events, central bussing, and many local parks. The Creative Kid’s Pedagogy
Creativity is just intelligence having fun! With a pedagogical curriculum that inspires creativity, imagination and human ingenuity, our approach encompasses all aspects of a child's development while recognizing their inward potential as individuals, contributors and innovators that learn the important lesson that they are capable of extraordinary things in this life!
If you think that your child(ren) would enjoy being in a program like ours; building walking robots, working with technology, doing arts and crafts, getting physical activity daily, being creative! The S.T.R.E.A.M. Curriculum
Studies show that S.T.E.M. girls have significantly higher confidence in their academic abilities compared to non-S.T.E.M. girls. At the Wizkid’s Afterschool Program, we use a S.T.R.E.A.M. curriculum that is designed to build brains while your kids build interest in future S.T.E.M. career paths that include Medicine/Healthcare, Arts/Design, Entertainment, Engineering and Social Science. Through the creative process of imagination, building and design, Wizkids get to be innovative with modern technological wonders such as electricity, pneumatics, magnetic forces, animation and automation in a hands on way that inspires confidence and self worth. It is the perfect fit for boys and girls that would love a club that gets them involved in a fun, hands on S.T.E.M. experience.
